The latest issue of Little White Lies is out next week and it contains two reviews by me, looking at films from directors at the start and end of their career. The debut feature from visual artist Omer Fast, Remainder is a thrilling and witty adaptation of Tom McCarthy's acclaimed novel about a man attempting to literally rebuild his memories, while No Home Movie is the final film from the great Chantal Akerman, who died last October. This low-key portrait of her relationship with her mother is moving and intimate, and it will be particularly resonant for fans of the director, who will recognise echoes of her previous work throughout.
Both films are released in UK cinemas on June 24th and you can read more about them in LWLies from May 13th.
